Stevie Deitsch

My name is Stevie Deitsch. I have worked for 4 Wheel Parts for several years in several different capacities, but I am currently an Internet Brand Manager.

I have been a car fanatic for as long as I can remember. My passion started when I was 14 years old and began working on my father’s 1973 Ford Mustang. I swapped out the heads, intake manifold, and camshaft and installed headers on it all by myself. Needless to say, I could not wait to get my license at 16. My first car was a 1965 Ford Mustang. As soon as I got the keys, I was out at the street races and hot rod-ing my Mustang.

As soon as I got out of school, I began working for a truck and custom car shop as an installation mechanic. In a very short time, I became the shop foreman. While working at this shop, I started building a tube chassis 1960 Ford Falcon with a big block. However, there was one problem. I quickly realized that I would need a truck to tow the Falcon to and from the track. I decided on a 1986 Ford F-250 XL 2WD that I bought used in 1988, but I still own it to this day.

Offroading Adventure

After trying to sleep with all the tree frogs and other critters (it was deafening), we awoke to our normal PB&J sandwiches and hit the road. We were off to the tallest hill in the state. It is just a few feet shy of being a mountain. This trail was a two-mile loop through the trees.

The next day, I saw some of the most incredible ‘wheeling I have ever seen in my life. We were traveling up and down a seasonally dry riverbed that had to have 50 different waterfalls to climb. On one of the trickier waterfalls, we were being spotted by one of the locals. We were trying to finesse our way up this thing, since we were getting good at it now (we have been learning a lot of new techniques). Anyway, this guy – not knowing of our reputation – tells John to stand on it, so John stood on the gas.

The next morning we were up at 6:00am so we could have a few hours to fix our damage, get packed up, and be ready to go for another road trip. It looked like a NASCAR pit in the parking lot with all the people scrambling around trying to fix things and get ready. Amongst all the confusion and not really knowing anybody, I made the decision to walk 3 miles back to town in hopes that the auto parts store was open and we could get some taillights. This is not normally a big deal, but I had just recovered from knee surgery a month and a half earlier.
