Compton, California (May 24, 2017) – Greg Adler piloted the Team 4 Wheel Parts Pro 4 to his first podium finish of the 2017 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series season as he bolted to a second place result in Saturday’s main event at the Baja International Off-Road facility in Ensenada, Mexico. In a dramatic turnaround from his disappointing opening weekend, Adler was a standout among the sport’s elite with consistent lap times throughout the May 20-21 doubleheader at the wide open, purpose-built track on the picturesque grounds of Estero Beach.

“It feels great to get back to the podium and to do it here in Baja,” said Adler. “We had good speed in Arizona for the first two rounds but some mistakes and mechanical issues cost us. With this big, fast course, the right suspension setup, tire combination and the motor got us up towards the front and we brought it home to a strong finish. The guys that work on the truck; Mike Seat, Dylan Cochran and the entire team really had us dialed in today.”

Starting on the front row of the grid, Adler yielded the lead but found himself jockeying for position as he fought to preserve his grasp on one of the top three spots. Dismissing challengers as he and the front-runners separated themselves from the field, Adler firmly entrenched his hold on podium contention with clean, fast lines. As the race wound down and within sight of the lead, he settled into second place and comfortably drove to his best finish of the season and his best finish in the team’s Pro 4 race truck that was acquired just prior to the 2016 season.

Sunday’s weekend finale had the beginnings of a carbon copy of the prior day’s effort as Adler was on pace to make a repeat trip to the podium. Battling his way to secure himself a position in the top three, he found himself knocking on the door of the leaders. Late in the race, while dicing for that final spot, contact with another driver cut a tire and forced him to pull off the track for a quick pit stop.

“We were able to get back on course and finish the race, but after running strong all day, it wasn’t the finish to the weekend we were looking for,” said Adler. “But now we’re going into the next round with the momentum and confidence of knowing that we’re where we need to be and are only going to continue to improve.”

As Ensenada became the epicenter of the off-road racing world, the May 20-21 doubleheader drew capacity crowds to what is rapidly becoming the Series’ signature event on its seven stop international tour. The effort, spearheaded by longtime series supporter Rodrigo Ampudia Sr. working alongside the Novelo family, owners of the Estero Beach hotel property, has established itself as a favorite for fans and race teams alike.

“The Lucas Oil Off Road team along with the Ampudia family have found the winning formula here at Estero Beach,” said Adler. “There is such an amazing tradition and passion for off-road in Baja and the fans here have really embraced not only short course racing but all of us who visit this beautiful facility to compete. From the moment the gates open, to the drop of the first green flag, there is an electricity that is unlike anywhere else we visit. It’s an honor to be a part of this fantastic event.”

The series now heads to the Utah Motorsports Complex in Tooele, UT just outside of Salt Lake City for rounds 5&6. Future events include doubleheaders in Wheatland, MO. and San Bernardino, CA. before racing returns to Chandler, Arizona for the season finale and the Lucas Oil Challenge Cup.

Throughout the season, the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series can be viewed on CBS, CBS Sports Network, MavTV.and LucasOilRacing.TV.
